Goat Cheese Balls with Tomato Jam and Poppy Seeds

Friday 14 March 2014

Since I moved to the UK I have been thinking about all the people that have been part of my life. People that used to play a really important role in a particular moment, but whose presence gets blurred with time. Or the most unexpected encounters that stay with you through the test of time.

I believe life always brings the right people your way.

Sometimes, the most fortuitous encounter can happen at the exact moment you need it to. There are supportive people that can hold your hand when you need them to. And there are critical people that manage to say or do the smallest thing that helps you to realize things about yourself or about how this world  works. I'm really grateful to those people too, even if my wake-up call has come about because someone wasn't really very nice to me. This is where some of my most important growth has happened, and so I thank them.

I'm always confident that when I have a problem or a need, my path will cross with someone else’s to help me find my way. Of course I always hope to find the kind of people that have nice words for me, but if it’s one of the other kind, I never miss the opportunity they have to offer.

Because at the end of the day, everything will depend on our tolerance of criticism and our openness to being supported through our journey.

This week’s recipe is a truly easy-to-follow with all-star results that will certainly help you to attract good people to your table. This tasty and colourful balls are perfect atop any platter and can be made up to a day ahead.

WHAT DO YOU NEED

1 Goat Cheese Roll
150gr Poppy Seeds
10 Toothpicks or Cocktail Sticks
1Tbs Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 Tomato Jam Pot – you can buy it here.

WHAT DO YOU DO

Mash the cheese with the olive oil until soft. Take small spoonful and roll into marble size balls using your hands. Tip: the cheese needs to be cold before rolling the balls.

Warm up the tomato jam for 10 seconds in the microwave (without the lid!) and dip each ball with the help of a toothpick.

Then, sprinkle the poppy seeds and keep in the fridge until ready to serve. Tip: you can try sprinkling different toppings such as chives or grated almonds.
