Kiwi Chia Pudding

Friday, 7 April 2017

It's finally happened.

After 2 years at preeschool and 3 at school, we finally have experienced the joys of head lice. The day I discovered that my eldest's head was covered in nasty eggs, I was really tempted to burn the bedclothes and towels and disinfect the entire house.

Now, after combing him, and myself, and my husband, and my youngest one for over a week, I am tempted to say we've finally won the battle.

Dark Chocolate, Almond & Cherry Cake

Friday, 18 March 2016

Yes, cake again. But this week I have a very good excuse. You must trust me.

Although viruses have been visiting us on and off for the last couple of weeks, we have had a lot to celebrate in between Calpol, handkerchiefs, blankets and thermometers.

This week my lovely husband has turned 36, and this year I wanted to treat him with a very special day. To be honest, it was more the boys idea than mine, but we all helped to put together a great party.

Here is where I have to make a confession. I have never watched Star Wars. Never. It was just the kind of film I was not interested in.

I really cannot stand all this Star Wars madness. Honestly, what is all the fuss about?

Apricot and Almond Tart

Friday, 31 July 2015

This week I'm a really excited and proud mummy. My son has learned to ride a bike!! A couple of months ago he was given a bike that he absolutely loved. He has been taking the bike to the park, without trying to ride it. Just walking with it to the park and back. Despite my best efforts, explaining how to ride a bike verbally to a 5-year-old boy didn't work for either of us.

Something I was not keen on was the use of stabilisers. I really think they are useless, as they make you learn to ride a bike twice: firstly with, then without. I am obviously not an expert, but I believe having stabilisers prevents the child from learning intuitively where their balance point is. But after a couple of months, I started to wonder whether I was completely wrong and the stabilisers were the key.
