Roasted Pumpkins

Friday, 28 October 2016

The warm and sweet nature of pumpkin makes it one of the most delightful comfort foods to be enjoyed roasted, steamed and smeared with butter, or blended into soups in the cooler months.

Did you know that pumpkins are not vegetables but fruits? They come in a multitude of shapes, sizes and colours. There are yellow, red, green, white, blue and even multi-coloured striped pumpkins. They can be huge, tiny, flat, short, tall, round, pear-shaped, long-necked, smooth, ribbed and even warty. Pumpkins are amazing for culinary uses. Inside the hard orange or yellow skin, the bright orange flesh is soft, sweet, smooth and honeyed. They are a good source of fiber, as well as providing a range of vitamins and minerals.

Salt Crusted Pork Roast

Friday, 12 August 2016

Just one week to be on holidays... Yay!!! And it´s really, really, really starting to smell like summer. As the days get warmer and longer, we try to stay out and about as much as we can. And one of our favourite things to do is pack our dinner and go to the park for a picnic.

Our family picnics are always an adventure because we make them spontaneous. We never know when or where they will take place.

But in all honesty, it doesn’t take much to have us thinking about picnics. A hint of blue sky and a ray of sunshine and there we are packing our picnic baskets.

Roasted Baby Summer Vegetables

Friday, 17 July 2015

I have to admit that I have always felt massively attracted by miniature versions of normal things. Miniature doll house furniture, miniature perfume bottles, babies, kittens and of course miniature jam jars. When I see a miniature I normally shout in an emotional outburst.... HOW CUTE IS THIS!?

Well, not always always. There are situations where big is certainly better... I believe this blog is really wrecking my reputation.

Anyway, I find miniature things so cute and fascinating that I even have a Pinterest board!

Honey Mustard Roast Chicken

Friday, 30 May 2014

For the past two years I have attempted to learn to knit. Apparently knitting can be super fun and addictive (should I start worrying about myself starting addictive but painful or frustrating activities?).

Anyway, I have tried and tried to knit quite a few times in my life. Lots of different people with much more advanced knitting skills (and with lots of patience) have unsuccessfully tried to show me how to knit properly. Is it possible that  some of us just aren't wired right?

However, as you already know, I rarely give up. Some months ago I joined a knitting club in my lunch break (in my real work lunch break). Knitting is one of those things I love to do but I’m sadly unable to. Some people have what it takes, and some don’t. And there is nothing we can do about it.
